Relationships are like plants in a way. You must nourish them if you want them to thrive. If you neglect your most precious connections, they will wither and die leaving you with the dried husks of beauty that once was.
Sometimes I get so busy that I neglect important things. I’m guilty of ignoring those I love most. My husband rented a movie for me last weekend. He rented the new King Arthur movie for me because he knows how much I love Arthurian legend. He mentioned that he had it, and I acknowledged him with a nod of my head.
We didn’t watch it because I was so busy. I attended the OWL conference on Saturday; wrote on Sunday; and then wrote some more after arriving home from our eclipse date. We finally got around to watching it this evening, and it was fabulous. It’s just so hard for me to sit down in the living room for two hours.
My husband isn’t the only one I’ve been ignoring. I am still carrying around the wedding card for my nephew who was married in June. I know, I’m a horrible aunt. I’ve had the card since the last part of May. I’m going to make it a point to mail it on Monday. I sincerely wish the happy couple all of the best, but they don’t know that because their card is still in my brief case.
In an effort to to nurture my most important relationship, I’m planning to make my special cinnamon vanilla pancakes for my honey bunch’s breakfast. He really loves them, and can eat a whole batch by himself. It’s not much, but it’s something that lets him know that I love him. Sometimes the little things make all the difference. We never know what tomorrow will bring, so we need to enjoy today.
