Perhaps I am a Poet

I received some surprising and wonderful news today. For the past few years I’ve submitted some of my work to The Crowder Quill for their annual contests. I’ve been honored to place in at least one contest and enjoy publication every year I’ve submitted.
There is one category that has historically sent me a polite rejection. The Poetry Contest judges have never been impressed enough with my work to deem me worthy of the top four. That all changed with my Haiku.
I finally placed in the Poetry Contest this year! I won’t know how I placed until the awards ceremony in May, but I do know that I finally made it. I have won 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, or Honorable Mention. I’m so happy!
I love poetry and always submit at least one poem with the rest of my work to The Crowder Quill. I know I’m not a fabulous poet, but I still love writing it. My poems are the words of my heart. That’s why the acceptance message I received today is so special. It also breaks my dry spell. I haven’t had a poem published since 1992. Perhaps there’s hope for me as a poet, after all.
My Haiku will be my 13th publication. I’ll share it here once it’s been published by The Crowder Quill. I’ll post a link where you can download the literary journal free. Of course, I’ll also let you all know how I placed. I’m honored to be in the top four, and I want to share it with the world! Thank you for reading Ozarks Maven!
