I’ve been analyzing the data, and I think I’ve come up with a good posting schedule for Ozarks Maven. I will regularly post on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with occasional bonus posts on other days. I will definitely be posting on Friday, September 22, 2017 when I give away the $25.00 Amazon gift card to one lucky email subscriber. If you haven’t yet become an email subscriber, I encourage you to do so.
Let’s switch gears, and take a moment for a serious topic. My heart is with the people of Texas right now. They are being inundated with rain and wind from Hurricane Harvey. The flooding is destroying homes and businesses, which means it’s destroying lives and livelihoods. I cannot imagine the horror of being displaced from my home and wondering from afar if I will have a home or job to which I can eventually return.
I am no stranger to natural disasters. I’ve lived with flooding and tornadoes my entire life. I had a front row seat to the devastation caused by the Joplin tornado in 2011. It was gut-wrenching to drive down the streets and see places where I once lived, worked, and conducted business completely destroyed. The loss of lives and livelihoods was horrible.
Hurricane Harvey and its effects are on a whole other level of terrible. There is no way to predict how many buildings will remain standing after so much flood water has engulfed them or if they will be salvageable. Once the water recedes, our Texas friends can assess the damage and determine what can be done. Until then, they are forced to wait out the storm.
I make it a point not to publicly discuss religion or politics. I am personally praying for Texas and her people. I hope that everyone, whether they are praying people or not, send good thoughts and support to our friends in Texas. They need all the support they can get in the coming days, weeks, months, and years.
