A Busy Father's Day Weekend

I hope everyone had a great weekend and a Happy Father's Day!
My weekend was a flurry of activity. I ran around on Friday trying to take care of the errands for the next two weeks. For my peace of mind, I'm trying to avoid multiple trips to the store and take care of everything on payday. It's a lot, but I took a little time to purchase a couple of mochas from my favorite coffee shop and took one to my mom at work. She seemed excited to see both me and the coffee.
Then at 5:55 a.m. Saturday morning, the roofers started tearing off my old roof. I had to get a new roof due to the terrible hailstorm we had at the end of April. The roofers worked until after 8:30 p.m. They even worked during a rainstorm. I could hear them up there hammering away as the rain pounded down. I am a bit concerned about trapped moisture, but I am not a roofer by trade. My husband admonished me to trust the professionals, so that's what I am doing. They were certainly brave to stay up there during the downpour.
Now that the roof is done, we have to get new guttering, replace one window, fix one screen, and start saving our money for new siding. Since the siding is nearly thirty years old, our homeowner's insurance didn't give us very much to replace it. I think they allowed around $600.00, which isn't even going to come close to paying for new siding. Ah, the joys of being a homeowner!

Sunday, my stepdaughter cooked breakfast for my hubby as a Father's Day gift, and I tagged along. It was fun. We hadn't visited her and her family since Easter, so it was time to catch up. We were able to see one of our grandsons, love on their two dogs, and play with their brand-new baby chickens. My husband had never held a chick before, and he was quite enamored with them by the time we left. I may get my backyard flock yet.
After we left my stepdaughter's house, we visited my stepson at his new house. He's in the process of fixing the place up before he and his family move in. I must say, he is doing a fantastic job. His sheetrock work is topnotch. His painting skills are enviable, and the house is coming along nicely. My granddaughter is quite excited about her garden and the watermelon she planted. I hope she grows a big one because our precious girl loves her watermelon.
My granddaughter insisted I see her room as soon as I walked in the door. She was so excited to explain that the shade of pink she chose is called Valentines Day. I've always been a fan of pink, and I think her bedroom looks great so far. I asked her if she was going to put hearts on her walls, and she told me that her theme is Minnie Mouse. She just loves Minnie.
It warms my heart to see my kids doing well and my grandkids thriving. My hubby and I are both excited to see what the future holds for them.
Did you have a good weekend?
