Happy Easter!

authormargarite

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter this weekend! I hope you enjoy time with your family, friends, and faith.

I don’t have Easter plans yet, but I’m sure my husband and I will be visiting our grandchildren at some point. I don’t know if they are visiting out of town family that day, so we’ll need to check when they’re available.

I didn’t buy them candy this year. I figure they’ll get plenty of that from other people. I bought my two older grandkids adorable gifts that will last for years. My youngest grandson, who is five months old is probably getting a new outfit or two. My husband wanted to help choose the baby’s first Easter gift from us, so we’re going shopping today.

My favorite Easter was when I was in my mid teens. My aunt, uncle, and two cousins came to our house for Easter dinner. My younger cousin was just a toddler, maybe two at the time. After lunch when it was time to hunt eggs, my older cousin and sister were finding eggs in rapid succession. My younger cousin couldn’t compete. That’s when my German Shepherd stepped in. He gripped the edge of my little cousin’s skirt in his mouth and led her to several Easter eggs. By the end of the hunt, her basket was the fullest.

While I was too old to hunt eggs by then, I sure did enjoy watching those three kids run around our yard, giggling and shouting, “I found one!” Having my dog involved in the fun was the icing on the cake. I wish smart phones had been invented back then because I would have loved a video of that hunt.

I do have plans for today. I’m having an early birthday celebration with Mom, my sister, my brother-in-law, my nephew, and my sweet husband. We’re going out. I’m pretty excited about that. We haven’t been out as a family in over a year. We’re visiting one of my favorite chicken houses, Pichler’s Chicken Annie’s in Pittsburg, Kansas. Their German potato salad is the best I’ve ever had, and I’m ready for a hearty helping. Family, great food, and fun together is the best birthday present I could ask for.

Whatever you do this weekend, I hope you stay safe and have a wonderful time!
