Let’s learn a little bit about Tierney James, who is just about the sweetest person I’ve ever met and a true inspiration to me as an author.
Besides serving as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, and attending Space Camp for Educators, Tierney served as a Geo-teacher for National Geographic. Her love of travel and cultures took her on adventures throughout Africa, Asia and Europe. From the Great Wall of China to floating the Okavango Delta of Botswana, Tierney weaves her unique experiences into the adventures she loves to write. Living on a Native American reservation and in a mining town, fuels the characters in the Enigma and Dark Side series. She also helps beginning writers in their quest to becoming a published author through her workshops and classes. Family, an adopted dog and gardening fill her life with plenty of laughter to share with others.
For those readers who aren’t familiar with you, would you please tell us a little about yourself?
I’ve been fortunate to live a number of places and have had many adventures. All of this fuels my stories and imagination when I write. I’m the mother of two and grandmother of seven, (although my kids think they act older than me sometimes.) I have this passion for gardening and never pass up an opportunity to buy a new plant. I have a Masters of Education degree with an emphasis in special education and geography.
We understand you have a new book launching. Would you tell us a little about it?
It is Martyrs Never Die #8 in the Engima Series, but these books can be read as standalones too. This new one takes place in Syria with a lot of action going on between the forces of good and evil. Terrorists have chemical weapons they plan to use against Saudi Arabia and point the finger at Israel as the culprit. There are lots of twists and turns to this one. Even though there is always a touch of romance, this books also has a bit of humor too.
What inspired you to write this book?
There were a series of documentaries and news pieces I watched on Syria involving the Daughters of Kobani. They are a group of Kurdish women who fight right along with the men. They are just as tough and brave as any man. I’ve also read a number of books of them. I’ve long admired the Kurdish people and thought it would be a good time to use them as part of my story.
Does your book have a lesson?
Anytime you write a thriller involving a ticking clock, you look for some kind of justice for what is happening. Since this is #8 in the series I would have to say the lesson would be to never give up.
What is your favorite part of the book?
I loved the parts where the three women agents, (who don’t like each other) have to work together to rescue Captain Hunter. They include a PTA mom who makes great cookies, an Irish assassin, and a drop-dead gorgeous woman who may or may not be a nymphomanic (according to Tessa, the PTA mom). Nothing boring about those three.
Are your characters based on real people, or did you create them all?
The characters are strictly from my imagination. However, some of Tessa’s experiences throughout the series have been based on some of my real life adventures.
Is this new book part of a series or a standalone novel?
Definitely part of a series.
Are you working on another book?
I’m actually working on two more Enigma books at this post. I’m also working on a new series involving an angel and an Eastern Orthodox priest. They show up at the end of Martyrs Never Die. Those two are a hoot, let me tell you! I’ve also got a science fiction series started along with a a few others.
What would you like to say to your readers?
I would love for you to give my books a try. Starting today I’m offering the start of the series for free. Each day a different book until June 17th when Martyrs Never Die releases.
