I hope everyone has a Happy Easter!
I know this will be a very different holiday than any of us has seen before. I don’t have to tell you that the world is a different place, but I’m going to. Everything is different, from the way we shop for groceries to the way we clean. The pandemic has changed everything.
My employer has not excused me from work, so I’m still going into the office and putting in my forty hours every week. That means that I’m not at home day in and day out like many of you. That being said, I am staying at home much more than normal. Frankly, there isn’t that much still open that even tempts me. I’ve already stocked up at the bookstore.
I’ve been keeping my trips to all retail establishments to a minimum, but I still seem to go far more than I’d like. I went to two stores today. I thought I had everything I needed after the first store, and I came straight home to put everything away.
I was watching the six o’clock news when I remembered something else. I chose to dash to a smaller store where I’d encounter fewer people. I was impressed that they were taking the same safety precautions as the huge chain I’d visited earlier.
The pandemic is just building up its steam here, and we all need to be careful. Sadly, I know someone who has contracted COVID-19, and I pray he recovers. I’m sure he won’t be the last person I know who catches it. Most people I know are being careful, but I know a few with lackadaisical attitudes. They are the ones who will most likely get sick and spread it to others.
I’m in the high risk group due to a medical condition. My husband is an emergency worker, which puts him at high risk for catching it. We’ve been trying to stay away from others, especially those who are vulnerable such as our moms and friends with health conditions.
We will be celebrating Easter at home, just my hubby and me. We’ll do our own thing and enjoy quiet togetherness. After we watch an Easter service online, we will probably work on our individual projects. I’m putting together a collection of my short stories, and I may enlist him to proofread a few.
While COVID-19 has changed the way we do things, the quiet time with my husband has strengthened our relationship. I hope that you all have grown closer to your loved ones, as well.
Stay healthy and safe, my friends!
