Joplin Writers' Faire is October 3, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Joplin Public Library
I am excited to be participating in this year's Joplin Writers' Faire on October 3rd. I love this event, but I've had to miss a few due to scheduling conflicts. This year's event does not conflict with the Ozark Creative Writers Conference, which has happened several times.

There will be 50 writers in attendance, and I'm honored to be counted among them. I don't know where my table will be, but I will have one. I'll be selling both of my books, Sally's Secret Legacy and Moonbeams and Ashes, along with a couple of the mystery anthologies in which I am published.
These events are always fun. The library staff are so kind and treat us like royalty. I'm looking forward to seeing what the other authors are offering as much as selling my own books. When writers get together, there's an energy that swirls around us. I can't speak for others, but my creative juices commence to percolating before my table is even set up.
I enjoy seeing how other authors set up their book tables. Some of them have quite elaborate decorations. I learn something new at every event. Whether it's book placement, swag arrangement, or tasteful decorating, the creativity of my fellow authors never ceases to amaze me.
I made a mistake with my last book table. I wanted to use this cute plastic tablecloth printed with books on it as my table cover. While it was adorable, it looked cheap and off-putting next to my colleagues' tables. Of course, I was set up next the amazing Tierney James, who had an immaculate display that was both inviting and intriguing. Her table was as classy as her, and it put mine to shame. Since I aspire to be as great at Tierney someday, I took some notes.
The Joplin Writers' Faire will be a fun event, and it's free to attend. Readers purchase books directly from authors and can have them signed. I would love to see you there!
