Happy Halloween!

authormargarite

I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween this year!

I hadn't planned on being home for the trick or treaters this year, but my granddaughter changed my mind for me. She said she wants to come see her nana for trick or treating, so I changed my plans. I couldn't tell my princess no to such a sweet and simple request. Therefore, I had to buy some last-minute candy, which was not cheap. Holy moly, that stuff has skyrocketed in price.

Halloween snuck up on me this year. My October has been extremely busy with an event every weekend and very little time at home to recoup, which means I haven't had the chance to properly take care of myself.

The respiratory bug I've been trying to fight off finally took me down this last night. I felt like I had a thousand ice picks jackhammering my skull. It was excruciating by the time my alarm went off this morning. So, I decided it was time to talk to a doctor.

My new health insurance has this great feature called Teladoc. It's an online system where Gravie customers can access a board-certified physician 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Because my doctor is booked for months in advance, and I didn't want to go to my local clinic, I decided to give Teladoc a try.

It took me a while to get my account set up, and then I had difficulty with certain aspects of the website. It turns out there were some issues on their side. Once I was able to get everything set, it took me less than three minutes for a doctor to contact me.

Due to the website issues, the doctor called me instead of doing a video call. In less than two minutes, she had an antibiotic prescription sent to my pharmacy and instructions on an over-the-counter medicine I am to begin taking. She followed up an email.

The expediency of the diagnosis was because I already knew what I had, and the doctor confirmed it with a few questions. All of this, and I never left my warm couch for treatment. I did have to drive to the pharmacy for my medicine, but I would have done that no matter where I went for medical care.

Thanks to some medicine and antibiotics, I should feel good enough to enjoy my granddaughter's visit and Halloween costume. I don't know if I'll see my grandsons, but I have treats for all three of my grandbabies if they come see me. I also have $65.00 worth of candy for other trick or treaters, but I don't think it will last long.

No matter your plans for tomorrow night, I hope you have a very Happy Halloween!
