The Crowder Quill awards ceremony and poetry reading is May 10, 2018 and begins at 7:00 p.m. It is being held in the Elsie Plaster Community Center Auditorium on the campus of Crowder College. The public is welcome to attend this free event.
The Crowder Quill is a literary magazine that features art, photography, and writing from local high school students, college students, and community members. This award winning magazine has been bringing literary and artistic joy to the area for 38 years.
I will be participating in the poetry reading in addition to being recognized for placing in the 2018 nonfiction competition. I don’t know how I placed yet. All I know is that I won Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Honorable Mention and my story will appear in the 2018 Crowder Quill. I will discover my status when my name is called to accept my certificate. I was blessed to place in 2016 crowderquill2016 and 2017 crowderquill2017, as well.
I have enjoyed the ceremony each year I’ve attended. Local poets present a wide array of poetry forms during the reading, and I’m excited to participate this year. My mom and one of my dearest friends are attending the ceremony with me. I look forward to sharing this special evening with them.
I’m anxious to get the beautiful magazine in my hands. The Crowder Quill is the creation of Crowder’s Magazine Production class. They do a fabulous job every year. I love a good story, and the ones they publish never disappoint me. Seeing the amazing art that’s highlighted in each issue makes my heart sing. I paint with my words, but I am in awe of those who can paint with color or sculpt with their hands. Past issues are available for free download here. crowderquill.com . It will probably be a while before this year’s issue is available online.
If you are going to be in the Neosho, Missouri area May 10, 2018 around 7:00 p.m., I encourage to attend the ceremony and poetry reading. There’s a reception afterwards where you can mingle with the writers and artists while enjoying some refreshments. Thank you for reading Ozarks Maven!
