A Fun Branson Shopping Trip

authormargarite

My mom, sister, mom’s friend Marsha, and I all had a girls’ day out in Branson last weekend. My sister, Laura, graciously volunteered to drive, so we could ride in the comfort of her SUV. It’s a nice vehicle with a smooth ride that gets much better gas mileage than my Charger. We won’t talk about my fuel efficiency.

We began our day with a hearty breakfast at Iggy’s in Carthage, Missouri and enjoyed a beautiful drive through the Ozark Mountains to our destination. We arrived at Tanger Outlet Mall in Branson a few minutes before they opened, so we were able to snag a great parking space.

Our first stop was Alfred Dunner so Mom and Marsha could shop for some work clothes. Then we moved on to Christopher & Banks where I scored some cute stuff for work. We also explored Hanes, Ozark Home, Sketchers, Famous Footwear, Bath and Body Works, Fossil, Book Warehouse, and Lane Bryant.

I got some really good deals. My best deals were a pair of Ryka running shoes and a pair of Nike sandals on clearance at Famous Footwear. However, I think my favorite stop had to be Lane Bryant. I was offered a job there out of the blue. The manager was ringing up my purchases and asked if I’d like a job. She said she’d seen me help Mom find a size and was impressed. Though she told me she needs people like me, I think she just needs reliable people. The staff was overwhelmed by the throng of shoppers that had descended upon the store.

After Tanger Outlet Mall, we found our way to Simply Irresistible Old Fashioned Candy Store in downtown Branson. They sell retro bulk candy including more kinds of taffy than I ever knew existed. I spent nearly $30.00 at that store, and my husband was beyond excited about my sweet treasures.

After all of that fun, we ate an early dinner at Godfather’s Pizza in Ozark, Missouri. That pizza was truly amazing. The Joplin location closed when I was a little girl, and my family has missed it terribly. I wish the chain would return to our area, but now I know where to find great pizza when I’m in the Ozark/Branson area.

The best part of the day was spending time with Mom, Laura, and Marsha. We don’t get to visit that much, and a day together was a special treat. The only thing that would have been more fun would be a day spent making our own candy. I hope to be able to spend more fun time with them soon.

My only disappointment was the fact VF Outlet closed their Branson location, a victim of the COVID 19 pandemic. I noticed many other Branson businesses suffered the same fate. It saddened me, but I hope to see new stores and restaurants in their places when I return this fall. The tourists/eager shoppers have returned.
