Valentine’s Day, the day dedicated to love, was yesterday. Did you celebrate it? If so, how was it?
I had a difficult time figuring out what to give my husband as a token of my love. You see, it’s not only Valentine’s Day, but also the 21st anniversary of the day he proposed to me. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been wearing his ring for 21 years.
We normally don’t spend a lot of money on each other, but we do celebrate our love. We go out to dinner, and some years we see a movie, too. We don’t need a lot of fancy things to show our love but we do like give each other a little something.
This year found us both in a quandary because we’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else that we haven’t really had a chance to concentrate on us. Neither of us knew what to get the other, but we both agreed we wanted quality time together.
The only Valentine thing we did on Friday was have breakfast together. I made cinnamon roll waffles, which is something my husband has been wanting to try for a while. He must have liked them because he had three. I think he felt appropriately special as a result of my effort, which was my goal. I wanted him to feel loved.
We’ll be celebrating today due to his work schedule. It’s okay that we weren’t able to have our special date on Valentine’s Day. Our love is what’s important. Besides, the extra day gave me some time to shop. Thank goodness for sporting goods stores!
I was finally able to find a nice gift that I’m sure my hubby will love. I won’t reveal what it is here in case he reads this blog post before our date. We plan to go out to dinner. Whether we go out for a movie or stream Netflix, we’ll have a romantic evening and spend some much needed time together just being us.
Love, in all of its various forms, is what makes life worth living. I wish you all love and joy.
