Now that September is here, many folks are thinking about digging out their boots and jackets. Fall is right around the corner. Fall has always been my favorite time of year, and I look forward to my fluffy sweaters and cozy coat.
Nothing screams romance to me like cuddling in front of a roaring fire with my sweetie. The smell of pot roast simmering in the crock pot, bread baking in the oven, and wood crackling in the fire are some of my favorite things.
One of my very favorite pastimes is stretching out under a blanket on the couch with my dog and reading a good book. Add a cup of hot chocolate or rich coffee, and I’m in my happy place. A slice of homemade bread fresh from the oven makes the experience one of pure perfection. I’m so ready for that moment of bliss.
We’re a ways from all of that yet, but it’s coming. The temperatures are in the eighties now, and some of the leaves look like they’re thinking about changing soon. The stores have declared fall is already here, though. I see pumpkin spice products everywhere I look. I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin, but I do love a good pumpkin spice latte.
The only thing I don’t like about fall is that infernal ragweed. Ragweed and cottonwood tear me up. My husband tells me I make noises like a rhinoceros when I sleep during allergy season. Even so, I still love the cool air and fall colors.
What is your favorite time of year and why?
