Counting My Blessings and Being Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sometimes we lose sight of how blessed we are. I’m a big believer in counting my blessings. I’d like to take some time today to share some of the things for which I’m thankful.

I have a good life and people who love me. I have a wonderful husband who puts up with my craziness and even loves me for it. I have two step-children who I love and are productive members of society. I have two beautiful, healthy grandchildren who make my heart melt every time they smile. I have many family members who love me and accept me for who I am, eccentricities and all. I have friends who have been with me through the roller coaster of my life. They laugh and cry with me, listen to me, and offer their unconditional support.

I have a decent job where I work with great people and help disadvantaged folks in my community. I have a house with a sturdy roof, food in my belly, enough money in the bank to pay my bills, and access to the medical care I need to stay healthy. I live in a free country where I’m in charge of my own destiny. I make my own decisions, right or wrong.

I’ve found kindred spirits in my writing groups. No one understands a writer quite like other writers. I treasure the beautiful friendships that have blossomed from the roots of common ground. I’ve made close friends in all of my groups. My critique group has become such an integral part of my life that I would be lost without my Prose Sisters.

I hope you all have a fabulous day today and take some time to reflect and be thankful for your own blessings.
